Established in August 2006, the KKR Strategic Capital funds follows an investment program substantially similar to KFN. Its strategy is to generate leveraged risk-adjusted returns while minimizing the risk of capital loss by making strategic investments. It targets investments principally in larger capitalization corporations in the following areas:
- stressed and distressed corporate credit
- market dislocation corporate credit
- private equity co-investments with KKR.
The fund closed on August 31, 2006 with capital commitments of more than $1 billion.
